Breakaway Media LLC is based in Oldsmar, FL. It was established in 2011 to fulfill the need to continue to produce and publish the quarterly Journal of Special Operations Medicine (JSOM). Breakaway Media (BAM) is owned by Michelle DuGuay Landers, Lt Col USAFR NC (Ret), the editor for the JSOM since its inception in 2000.
When the DoD cut its budget in 2011, the United States Special Operations Command experienced the effects, and the JSOM, then its 11th year of publication, was one of the casualties of these cuts. Michelle established Breakaway Media, LLC as the new home for its feature publication and its annual Advanced Tactical Paramedic Protocols Handbook. For more information on these publications, see our Featured Products page.
Since then, BAM has dramatically evolved, significantly enhancing marketing and sales efforts and meeting the increasingly complex text and clinical reference needs in the market. We are also working ahead of the technological curve by making the journals available as a digital flip-book that can be accessed and viewed on tablets, smartphones, and computers.
